THE IMPORTANCE OF TEACHER TRAINING.

WHICH TRAINING COURSES WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE ACCESS TO AS A TEACHER? WHY? WHICH IS, IN YOUR OPINION, THE BEST WAY TO SHARE GOOD PRACTICE AMONGST TEACHING PROFESSIONALS? WHY?

Teaching is a diverse profession that involves working with students to help them obtain certain knowledge or master specific tasks. To become a qualified teacher, we need to successfully complete teacher training. By doing so, we'll achieve 'qualified teacher status'.   

Educative system needs to train and change the reality of classrooms since we need to improve the way of teaching our children. It must be more dynamic and flexible. For this reason, education professionals need training to update the learning-teaching process. It is required for the exercise of our profession. The training must be permanent because of we need to know a lot of things that are not provided in the initial training in this profession.

            According to this necessity, the training of teachers should be seen as an update process that allows you to make your educational and professional practice in a meaningful, relevant and appropriate to the social contexts in which it is. The teacher is required to be continuous academic training to respond in a relevant and effective to the demands in education as experimentation projects, materials, as well as, resources, teaching and learning techniques, among others. As teachers, we will know and develop the use of ICT because students are motivated and interested with using new technologies to learn a new language.    In addition, teachers must know what special needs are in students, for instance, their language, their hobbies and tastes, among others. It is necessary for teachers to treat them and what tools use to motivate students to learning a new language, new things. Teachers use different strategies to their students will achieve the aims that they proposed.

Regarding to share best practices among peers. Education professionals can take part in courses or training event abroad. Learning mobility for students, cooperation and innovation and exchange of good practices are important to provide new opportunities for students to learn a new language in another country or collaborate and cooperate to carry out projects.

As a conclusion, teachers have to guide our students in their learning-teaching process, stimulate and accept autonomy and initiative of students.

THE PARTS OF BODY

IF YOU WERE NOT LIMITED BY THE DEMANDS OF THE NATIONAL/REGIONAL CURRICULUM, WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU WOULD TEACH YOUR STUDENTS (IN A CLIL CONTEXT)? 

HOW WOULD YOU ASSESS THEIR LEARNING?

If we were not limited in our teaching and assessments by the demands of the regional or national curriculum, I think I should teach a lot of interesting and important things about the importance of parts of body for 5th grade of Primary School in a subject of Science because students will be able to know that our body is essential to do anything as running, drinking and other actions. And they have to know the different parts of our body as bones, muscels between other important parts.

I consider important for assessment in CLIL to explain the objectives of this unit. 

The objectives are as follow:

·   To recognise the parts of the body: bones, muscels, joints, upper extremities and lower extremities.

·    Learning the importance of doing different actions with our body.

·    To distinguish the characteristics and functions of bones, muscles and joints.

I will assess my students recognizing the different parts of their body, furthermore they have to use to describe it (this is and these are), to help the student’s learning and to check efficiency of teaching programme with describing how their body move.

I will also assess language learning skills (grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation), language in use (reading, listening, speaking and writing), language competencies (socio-linguistic and strategic competencies), also general behavioural and social skills and a general impression of the student as a member of the class.

The four Cs framework for my lesson will be:

Language contents: vocabulary: bones (femur, humer, urna, skull, tibia, patella, ankle, toe bones, brain), muscles (deltoids, biceps, pectorals, abdominals, quadriceps, trapezius, gluteus, calves)  and  joints (tendon, ligament, enthesis, bursa, articular catilage) structures: practise the past, the present and future tenses with grammatical structures about: there is in my body, this is, these are and sentences as: which joints are you using, which bones are you using, what is this, can you feel your muscles.

Communication: children will develop the four skills (listening, reading, speaking and writing) in class. The listening with a song related to bones and muscles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RHZZ-71SxMT.  The reading with various stories about what their body can experiment. The pupils have to write some sentences using the word bones, muscles and bones. Finally we will do a speaking class where students have to think how they can do with their body in their daily lives and they have to design a chart with the sports that they can practise.

Contents: locomotor system, sketelal system, movements.

Culture: aware pupils about importance of their body, thought facts like in the human body, what bones are in their body, what are the functions of their body, movements. The importance of taking care their body and what they do to be fit.

In conclusion the teacher will assess the creativity, motivation, effort and behaviour of the students in class to evaluate them.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF USING THE ELP

Taking into account my personal teaching context, what would be the advantages and disadvantages of using ELP with my groups?

First, I think it’s very important to know the mean of “ELP”.

“ELP” it’s a document in which those who are learning or have learned a language-whether at school or outside school- can record and reflection their language learning and cultural experiences.

As a Primary teacher, I think that the implementation of the ELP to promote plurilingualism, race cultural awareness, make the language learning process more clear to the student and foster the development of learner autonomy according the European Council established, is a wonderful idea.

I think ELP is a positive way to develop the plurilingualism and cultural exchange. This can permit students to go abroad to continue their studies in different parts of the world. In addition, it is a good way to introduce the electronic material in class. The self- assessment is a very important innovation because they check what they have done and later they correct it. Furthermore, they can consider it a motivational factor for them.

The ELP permits students to know their skills and results of their learning process with the help of a tutor at the beginning. They recommend starting this learning system to children over 14 years old, when they are studying in secondary.

In my opinion I think teachers should implement the ELP at early years when students are in primary (year 5 and year 6) with the help of the teacher.  The support teacher wouldn’t be in a full time because they need to learn how to be independent and learn autonomy, for this reason, they have to take into account the rhythm and needs of their students. The role of teacher should be less dominant, because she will guide in the learning-teaching process of students and teacher will achieve that her students will become as competent as possible in verbal and non-verbal communication.

As a conclusion, I believe that the ELP is an exellent tool for self-evaluation, and increasingly will be used in most schools, but I think that you will need time to get people into this method.

Other digital resource is Socrative: lets teachers engage and assess their students with educational activities on tablets, laptops and smartphones. Through the use of real time questioning, instant result aggregation and visualization, teachers can gauge the whole class’ current level of understanding. Socrative saves teachers time so the class can further collaborate, discuss, extend and grow as a community of learners.

Jclic: It's a set of free software applications licensed under the GNU GPL that are used for carrying out different types of educational activities: puzzles, associations, text exercises, crosswords, scrambled letters, etc. It's developed in the Java platform and works in Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris systems.

These digital resources are very useful fot children to learn through another method since they are motivated to learn in another way, These resources are very creative, imaginative and interactive.

TEACHER'S DAY

Today, I'm going to talk about teacher's day. This day is celebrated  annually on October 5th since 1994, commemorates teachers’ organizations worldwide. In many countries, Teacher's Days (or Teachers Day) are intended to be special days for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honour them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general. The date on which Teachers' day is celebrated varies from country to country.

It is vital that students get to see the teacher’s personality. They should feel that the teacher, too, is a “real” and “approachable” person, with a friendly attitude. In the same way a teacher wants to develop a connection with their class, students, too, want to be able to connect with the teacher and get a sense of who they are. Never adopt a pre-rehearsed or robotic style in your lessons. Allow your own personality and enthusiasm for what you do to come through in what you say, how you teach and the topics you chose. Students will value this.

FINLAND'S SCHOOL

Primary education - School begins at the age of seven 

Children begin their primary education when they reach seven years of age.

Pre-school education is intended for six-year olds, who will start their compulsory education in the following year. At the moment over 90 % of the age group participate in the voluntary pre-school education.

Comprehensive school provides a nine-year educational programme (with a voluntary 10th year) for all school-age children, beginning at the age of seven. The school network covers the whole country.

Comprehensive schools are primarily run by local authorities, with the exception of a few private schools. The broad national objectives and the allocation of teaching time to instruction in different subjects, subject groups and pupil counseling are regulated by the government.

The National Board of Education decides on the objectives and core content by confirming the core curriculum. Based on these, each provider of education prepares the local basic education curriculum.

Who was my favourite teacher?

There are my best teachers who, in my mind, have significantly helped me through many dificulties my entire life school. I finished my degree this year and I realised that  how much I learnt from my teachers.

I felt very confident in his classes. I learnt a lot. He was always in his classroom, ready to talk to me every time I needed help. He guided me through by showing me different techniques that I could use to do best in an exam.

There are so many good and effective teachers, yet only one has given the opportunity to see myself improving everyday by his continuous support and guidance. As Mr. Antonio. He was my teacher in some subjects in primary school, like maths, science, spanish, geography between other. I could feel very well while he was teaching us. By giving us, so much practice on different skills of interacting Spanish, as well as helped advice on how to improve ourselves. My teacher made the class feel very safe and confident. Those reliable feelings were massive courage and were such strengths that helped us through many exams and tests.

Being a teacher is hard, being a good teacher is even harder, yet for a person to be a passionate and dedicated teacher is the most difficult. Everyday he got up early and he fulfill the specific timetable, because he was in the mornings and the afternoons at school.

To students, Mr. Antonio, who, with his exceptional dedication always tried to achieve the best preparation for them before every oral exam, or work that would be examined externally. He wanted to help us to obtain the best we could by explaining and briefing in detail about each particular process.

In the end, I have truly considered his as a person who walked into my life and brought with his almost miracles to help me grow into a better person.
